Over the weekend the insidious folks at Blizzard officially announced the forthcoming Diablo 3. Even though it has been nearly 10 years since Diablo 2, my heart trembled with a mix of excitement and dread.
Oh the countless happy hours and mouse clicks I spent with the original Diablo back in college, not to mention the serious addiction I had to Diablo 2. Both games were, for me, the perfect blend of role-playing and fast-paced action. And now Blizzard wants to taunt me a third time?
I’ve successfully avoided Blizzard’s famously-addictive World of Warcraft, but after watching the 19 minute gameplay trailer on the new Diablo 3 website, I’m not sure I’ll be able to fight the siren call of endless mouse clicks to slay the demon hordes.
My only hope is that with no release date or system requirements officially announced, that my iMac will be hopelessly unable to play the game. Or maybe that’ll be reason enough to buy a new mac…
